Jimbo's Bar-B-Q - Tampa, FL

After a day out, we were famished and wanted barbecue.  My wife suggested Jimbo's for dinner.  The ambiance is like a country barbecue place, but it is in the middle of the city.  As soon as we sat down, I noticed the massive portions of food.  I could not wait to eat.

I had the Pork Sandwich with okra and mac & cheese.  The sandwich had a robust flavor with the right amount of sauce.  The pork was juicy and tender as well.  The best part of it is that each sandwich comes with hush puppies.  That is amazing.  We will be back.  For more information, visit Jimbo's.  Enjoy

Columbia Cafe - Tampa, FL

The Columbia Cafe is located at the Tampa Bay History Center.  My family and I had dinner there, and we were very impressed.  I had the Pressed Meatloaf sandwich, and it was excellent.  The Cuban bread was soft and flaky.  The meatloaf had the right amount of seasoning.  The subtle flavor of the meat made the sandwich pop.  For more information, visit Columbia Cafe.  Enjoy!

Irish 31 - Tampa, FL

Irish Pot Pie

Over the weekend we had some time to kill so we thought we would grab a bite to eat.  I had a colleague of mine mention that Irish 31 was a great restaurant.  We were in the Hyde Park section of Tampa, and we just happen to stumble upon an Irish 31.  We stopped in and enjoyed a great meal.

First off, I had the Irish Pot Pie.  Wow, it was awesome.  The Puff Pastry on top was so light and flaky.  For dessert, we had the Bread Pudding and Irish Cream Cheesecake.  Both desserts were rich and flavorful.  We will be back.  For more information visit Irish 31.

4 Rivers Smokehouse - Tampa, FL

Are you ready for some BBQ?  If so, head to 4 Rivers Smokehouse.  My family and I went there this past weekend.  I was thoroughly impressed by their massive menu.  I had the burnt ends with sides of bread pudding (my favorite), fried okra, and smoked jalapenos.  The meat was perfectly cooked.  The bread pudding was flavorful and savory.  The jalapenos had that distinct smoky flavor.  I can't say enough on how much I enjoyed it.

Mini Doughnut Factory - Tampa, FL

As an alternative to a birthday cake, my son wanted something a little different.  He decided on doughnuts.  These were not your ordinary doughnuts however.  These doughnuts were from the Mini Doughnut Factory.  As you can see they have a wide array of options to choose from.  The doughnuts covered in bacon were a big hit.  They also had other choices such s'mores, and kids cereals for the doughnuts.  We will definitely be back for more crazy creations of doughnuts.  For more information visit the Mini Doughnut Factory.  Enjoy!

Taps Restaurant Bar & Lounge - International Plaza in Tampa, FL

My wife and I went out for a quick bite to eat at Taps Restaurant Bar & Lounge at the International Plaza.  It is a nice little bar.  I started off with an Islamorada Citrus Ale which a had nice fruit flavor to it.  Next, I had the Hangover Burger which had a fried egg with it.  The beef was cooked to perfection.  What really threw me off was that Taps had the option of choosing a side salad instead of fries as a healthier alternative.  With solid food and a low key atmosphere, I would go back.  Taps has multiple locations throughout Florida to serve you.  For more information visit Taps Restaurant Bar & Lounge.  Enjoy!

Nabruzzi Trattoria - Lutz, FL

The other evening, my wife and I went out for a quiet night out.  We heard about this great little Italian place called Nabruzzi Trattoria.  We both had some great dishes but the highlight of the evening was the tiramisu.  The tiramisu had bold flavor to it.  Some tiramisu is too sweet but this had the right blend of sweet with the robust taste of coffee.  We will definitely be back.  For more information, visit Nabruzzi Trattoria.  Enjoy!

District Tavern - Tampa, FL

Bayou Burger

After a long quest to find a place to eat for Father's Day, we ended up at the District Tavern.  We loved the atmosphere and the food was excellent.  I had the Bayou Burger which had a blend of meat with a touch of spice.  The burger was cooked to perfection.  As an alternative to fries, I opted for the pineapple infused slaw.  The two items went together perfectly.

For dessert, we went with the Bread Pudding, which is one of my favorite desserts.  The picture does not do it justice because the size of it was huge.  The bread pudding had a nice sweet flavor but not over powering.  It also had the right moisture to it.

The Island Grille & Raw Bar - Tierra Verde, FL

My parents have been raving about the Island Grille & Raw Bar in Tierra Verde, Florida.  They said the food is excellent.  After going there with my family, we agree.  The seafood is very fresh, right off the boat.  I had the Shrimp and Crab Salad Wrap and it was awesome.  The robust taste of fresh shrimp and crab cam bursting out with every bite.  I really enjoyed it.  They also have a stellar dessert menu including Bread Pudding (my favorite).  Between the food and and the atmosphere, we will be back.  For more information visit the Island Grille & Raw Bar.  Enjoy!

Uncle Maddio's - Tampa, FL

The other night my wife was looking for a quick meal after a night of baseball.  She stopped into an Uncle Maddio's in North Tampa for some pizza.  It was a solid cheese pizza.  It was nothing extravagant but just a good pie.  They seem to have a pretty diverse menu including foldwiches which are like a big pizza sandwich.  We will definitely be back.  For more information visit Uncle Maddio's.  Enjoy!

Ford's Garage - Wesley Chapel, FL

For Cinco de Mayo, I met up with friends at Ford's Garage in Wesley Chapel.  No, it was not for an oil change but for some food and drinks.  I was very impressed with the amount of people that were there.  It was packed.  Luckily we had called ahead and had a table reserved.

The food was awesome.  I had the Estate Burger which had a robust flavor with the smoked gouda cheese and the caramelized onions.  The burger was cooked to perfection.  The angus beef was thick and juicy.  I will definitely be back to try the other burgers and sandwiches.  For more information, visit Ford's Garage.  Enjoy!  

Wow! Fresh & Fast - Tampa Bay, FL

Over the weekend, my family and I were looking for something to eat after a morning of baseball.  We wanted to try something different.  As we were driving, Wow! Fresh & Fast in Carrollwood came calling.  Wow! Fresh & Fast specializes in burgers, pizza, and salads.  I went with the bacon double cheeseburger and fries (perfect for maintaining my girlish figure).  The burger was great.  It was very juicy and cooked to perfection.  Not only was the food excellent, but so was the atmosphere.  The staff was exceptionally friendly.  We will be back for sure.  Maybe next time we will try the wood fired pizza.  For more information, visit Wow! Fuzzy's Taco Shop

Over the weekend, we went to Fuzzy's Taco Shop in North Tampa.  I was really impressed by the food and ambiance.  I had the beef brisket burrito and it was awesome.  It was loaded with flavor and it was huge.  We also tried the beef nachos.  The chips were crisp and had massive chunks of beef.  The menu is large with plenty of options.  Next time you are hungry, check out a Fuzzy's Taco Shop near you.  For more information, visit Fuzzy's Taco Shop.  Enjoy!

BrewTown Burgers - Lutz, FL

Recently my family and I went the BrewTown Burgers.  They had some crazy burger combinations.  I had the Big Cheese which used bacon grilled cheese sandwiches as the buns.  This is a great idea.  BrewTown seems to have a wide variety of other burgers including a Breakfast Burger made with french toast.

Along with great burgers, BrewTown has some great desserts.  We had the Fried Cheesecake Bites which were awesome.  The bites were tender and moist.  The bites also included a warm caramel sauce.

Tampa Joe's - Tampa, FL

Over the weekend we were looking for a place to eat after baseball.  We went to Tampa Joe's by the AMC Veterans 24 Movie Theatre.  Wow, it was great.  I had the Jalapeno Joe Burger.  It was spicy, big, and bold.  The burger was cooked to perfection.  I also tried the Chicken BBQ pizza.  The pizza crust had excellent flavor with juicy chicken.  We will definitely be back.  For more information visit Tampa Joe's.  Enjoy!

Vallarta's - Odessa, FL

On Friday night my family and friends went out to Vallarta's in Odessa, Florida just north of Tampa.  They always seemed to be busy every night.  The atmosphere is festive with the live mariachi band.  The food was priced well based on the quantity.  I had the Chimichanga which was robust and full of flavor.  There are multiple locations around the Tampa Bay area.  Come in for some solid Mexican food.  Enjoy!

Culver's - Multiple Locations

I have heard great things about Culver's from my Wisconsin friends.  From the burgers to shakes, the food was all exceptional.  My family and I went to a location in Tampa after going to Busch Gardens.  We were not disappointed.  We all had the original ButterBurger.  It was a solid little hamburger.

What was really cool however is that Culver's has a make a friend policy where they give you a free shake.  We were the recipient of the Vanilla Concrete Mixer with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.  The shake was thick and delicious.  The chunks of candy were massive which really made the shake.

Burger 21 - Multiple Locations

The other day my family and I were looking for a good burger.  We looked no further and found Burger 21.  The beef patties were very juicy with a robust flavor.  The burger that I had was called the Cinco Burger which was really filled with jalapenos.  Burger 21 was just an all around classic burger joint.  I also tried the massive OMG Burger.  It had some serious girth.  We will definitely be back for some more delicious burgers.  For more information visit Burger 21.  Enjoy!

Hungry Harry's BBQ - Land O' Lakes, FL

My family and I are frequent visitors of Hungry Harry's in Land O' Lakes.  I have the all you can eat chicken and ribs with a variety of sides.  The green beans are always moist and had the right texture.  My wife will get the beef sandwich and she said it is always excellent.  The price was very reasonable considering the size of the portions.  We will be back, that is for sure.  For more information visit Hungry Harry's .  Enjoy!

Local Public House - San Antonio, FL

I have heard some great things about this place and I wanted to try it out.  It is called the Local Public House and it located right by Saint Leo University.  I had the grassfed burger with the added fried egg, and bacon.  It was a fantastic burger.  You could taste the freshness.  They also have beer from local breweries.  This restaurant is focused on using resources from the immediate area.  I will have to stop by after work to sample the beer and more from the tantalizing menu.  For more information, visit Local Public House.  Enjoy!
